Can I get and H&R block line of crdit if I have filed for bankruptcy?
We filed for bankruptcy this past summer. I recieved the offer in the mail for an H&R block emerald card line of credit. I have been an H&R block customer for several years have have had the card for a couple. Don’t owe any back taxes or nothing to the H&R bank. Will I qualify?

I have read on other questions previously answered that they are looking for bankruptcy. Now I am not sure if they are looking to see if people have filed currently or at all….I have a friend who filed a couple years ago and was approved. If your bankruptcy is still open/pending then I doubt. If its closed or discharged you may likely be approved being as you could not file a 7 again for awhile. If you filed a 7 to begin with.

I know that ONE of the requirements is that you cannot have filed for bankruptcy. They will be doing credit checks this year (they were not doing them in the past). Having bad credit won’t necessarily disqualify you for a loan. In additional to no bankruptcies you cannot:
Owe back child’s support
Owe HR Block or its affiliates
Owe the IRS
Owe back student loans
You must:
Be currently employed
Have made OVER 10,000 this year
Be getting back OVER 1,000 on your refund
Bring in:
Your most recent pay stub
Your I.D
If you are a NEW customer, you must bring in your 2007 tax return
Although a lot of people meet these requirements, a lot of seemingly qualified applicants have been getting denied. I just spoke with an HR Block Rep today who confirmed what I mentioned above. They are not quite sure why it is that a lot of people are getting denied.
I don’t know either??
Good Luck though!

They are using the experian credit report. If you have been delinquent/late/over the limit on a revolving acct (credit card) within the last 6 months you will be denied. Yes I checked my report and I was 1 of the above within the last 6 months.
