What happens to the credit card debt if the bank who offered the credit card declares itself in bankruptcy? Does the debit still have to be paid by anyone? If so who?

My husband and I have just retained a lawyer for Chapter 7 and our house is in the early stage of foreclosure. We have no credit card debt, because we knew we ****** at budgeting our money and knew well enough not to get roped into credit cards. The only loans we have are the mortgage to a house we cant afford nor do we even want to live in, and my student loan which i have been consistent in payments. Our bills derived from the birth of our son, his kidney ultrasounds, and double the utility payments, since the house we mortgaged was an upper/lower duplex. Per the terms of our loan, we were not permitted to rent out the upstairs apartment. (the loan was given on the stipulation that we would use the property as a single family residence.) My question is how long, if anyone has any ideas, would it possibly take to be able to buy another more suitable home for my family? I know bankruptcy is on your credit score for 10 years, but the method we’ve been using (robbing peter to pay paul) is getting us nowhere. We are in credit counseling and all we want is to provide a stable environment for our son while he is still too young to understand how bad his parents are with money.

My husband is planning on filing for bankruptcy. He has student loans of about $100,000 & has already exhausted deferments. We have to prove due hardship for student loans to be considered. I have about $5000 in credit card debt. My family has offered to help me pay off my debts, but i’m wondering if my debt will be considered when he attempts bankruptcy. Would it be in our benefit for me to have this debt to prove due hardship? Would my debt be covered if he did get bankruptcy, so I should save my family the $? Thanks for the feedback.

wiped away. Why am I getting credit card offers in the mail? They know I just went through bankruptcy and I have no intention of getting back in that trap again.
