Should I worry about adding my ex wife’s debts into my bankruptcy? I live in Illinois.?

I am about to file chapter 7 bankruptcy. I’ve included all debts in my name. I am not sure if after I file, my ex wife’s bills will start to haunt me. I don’t think IL is a community property state. So, I’m hoping I am not responsible for her credit card or past due utility accounts gone to collection that are solely in her name even though they occured before the divorce was entered. I do worry about those still. But, I am especially worried about the medical bills racked up in her name and my step kids’ names, since they were under my insurance during the dates of service and we were married at the time.

What will happen if i won’t file for bankruptcy? I have about 30K in credit card debts?

Legally Eliminate Credit Card Debts – How Does a Legitimate Debt Settlement Program Work

Do you want to legally eliminate credit card debts? If so, there are two options open for you. The first option is the traditional method of debt elimination which is none other than bankruptcy. The next option is debt settlement. If you are opting for bankruptcy, you will be able to eliminate the debt in full but at the same time you will lose your credibility for the next 7-10 years and this happens because, the bankruptcy filing report shows up in the credit history for that period of time. The credit score definitely goes down but once you clear off the remaining amount to the creditor, the credit history becomes clean and your regain your credibility.

But the question is, “How does a legitimate debt settlement program work?” If you want to legally eliminate credit card debts through a legitimate debt settlement program, the first thing that you need to keep in mind is that your overall credit card debt must be over $10k and that it must be consolidated in one single card. If these two conditions are fulfilled, you need to hire a professional debt settlement company. The professional negotiator from the company will have a complete knowledge and understanding of the banking system and knows how things work. The negotiator will then advise you to go delinquent. You need to do this because by doing so, the negotiator can easily prove that you are in financial problem and that you cannot pay the lender in full. Once you stop all the payments, the creditor will wait for 12-16 weeks and then sell off the debt to a collection agency for 20-30 cents on the dollar.

do court systems force people who have no ability to pay unsecured credit card debts?

my wife, just out of pregnancy with a newborn, is being sued by Capital One for a $2000.00 credit card debt. We offered to pay the minimum but they refused. I’m unsure if I could even afford bankruptcy. We have a large mortgage, living expenses with no disposable income for any debt-consolidation. Facing pending foreclosure. If we are summoned to appear before the court, what would the court possibly expect us to do except what we could afford to do?????? what could we expect from the court from credit card company suits??????
